Today is International Women’s Day, and I decided that sharing this post on this day was perfect. I wrote this piece during a relationship that turned sour. I started to think of a better future for women, and I thought about my future daughters, so I penned the following thoughts.
I want you to know how much worth you have in and of yourself. You do not need a husband or children to be whole and complete despite what society shouts from the rooftops.
You are so much worthy. God has instilled in you gifts and talents that are unique and need to be shared with the rest of humanity. Marriage and Motherhood are indeed blessings but not to be entered into lightly. But they should not be a stumbling block from you fulfilling your purpose or using those talents God specifically gave you.
I want you to learn to find delight in the simplest of things. Learn to be by yourself while also being a social person. Many never know to master the art of being with themselves. They are always in search of filling up the silence that they end up rushing into foolishness.
“A woman that knows her worth doesn’t measure herself against another woman but stands strong, calmed and self confident.”― Auliq Ice
Learn to enjoy your own company. It’s in those moments that you can be reflective and make power impacting decisions. Learn to pay close attention to your heart.
When it comes to choosing a spouse, do not let any rush you into making decisions. The right man for you will be the one who sees your worth and celebrates it and allows you to continue being the star you are. He is a man that will not strip you of your essence but will encourage you to become a better version of yourself.
Most importantly, learn to spend time alone with your Heavenly Father. That’s the most important relationship you will ever have. It’s in this unique relationship I have drawn strength from those days I wanted to give up. When the world around me told me there was no way I could succeed.
My daughters, I want the best for you and all women. There will be challenges, but instead of cowering in fear, you must rise to the occasion. Do not let fear stop you from living your best life. Sometimes you need to step out of your comfort zone and do things that scare you.
Happy International Women’s Day!
